Ruston & Hornsby 395305 arrived at Trevarno on 12th October 2007. Although the loco has been given some cosmetic attention, receiving a new black livery, it is not operational. The loco has provided some parts in order to get its sister 327974 running, although in the long term it is currently hoped 395305 will also be a 'runner'.


Built by Ruston & Hornsby in Lincoln. Build number 395305, 28 ton loco fitted with Ruston 6VPH engine number 399874.



A brief history of the locomotive is as follows:

  • 26th November 1956 Ex-works to ICI {Salt Division}, Weston Works, Runcorn, Cheshire.

  • 1966 To ICI Smalldale Quarry, Derbyshire.

  • 9th December 1975 To Foxfield Railway via ICI Tunstead Central Workshops, Derbyshire.

  • 2nd September 1997 To Northampton Ironstone Railway Trust (NIRT), Hunsbury Hill, Northampton.

  • 12th October 2007 Arrives Trevarno on the Helston Railway.
