94148 Photo Gallery

RES (Rail Express Systems) Super GUV (General Utility Van) number 94148 arrived at Trevarno from the West Somerset Railway on 4th June 2009. The carriage is for static use as a shop/store area and will be based in the second bay platform at Trevarno station.

94148 is currently in the red and black RES livery that it was withdrawn from service in complete with 'Royal Mail' emblems. It will eventually be repainted into a maroon colour scheme.

Brief history/notes on the vehicle:

  • 15th October 2003
    Although the Royal Mail didnt cease using EWS (English, Welsh and Scottish) rail services until March 2004 by October 2003 94148 was stored out of use and on the 15th October 2003 it was hauled from Bristol to open storage in Exeter Riverside Yard. The train ran as 5Z23 07:30 Bristol Barton Hill to Exeter Riverside and conveyed a total of 13 ex Royal Mail vehicles with class 67 no 67022 providing the power.

  • 28th December 2005
    Having sat in the open at Exeter for over two years 94148 was finally moved at the end of 2005. Class 66 loco no 66174 moved 94148 and 94442 from the Yard up to Bishops Lydeard on the West Somerset Railway. The train ran as 5F81 15:09 Exeter Riverside to Bishops Lydeard.
